The Supreme Court ordered yesterday a halt to all works for the AEK new stadium. The decision says that construction for the new ground must be stopped until the 5th of November, when the Court will hear the case raised by the City of Nea Philadelphia. The Municipality and several citizens of this Athens suburb claim that the construction of the new stadium is unconstitutional and against the law, as it violates many environmental rules.

The result of all this is that the stadium will definitely not be ready for use before 2005, if at all. Funding for the whole project is now very uncertain and if the Court decides against AEK, this could be the end to the club's ambitious plans.
