The new owner of Panionios FC, Costas Tsakiris, revealed yesterday that he plans to construct a new sports complex to replace the existing NEA SMYRNI STADIUM.

The preliminary study has been completed and it involves a new football stadium (capacity: 12,000), a basketball indoor hall (capacity: 3,300), an aquatics centre with 5 swimming pools (one for water polo - capacity: 1,100) and underground parking. All stands of the football stadium will be covered. It will feature 18 VIP boxes, a restaurant, 2 electronic scoreboards etc.

The cost is estimated at € 60 million. The construction of the project will be decided in the coming months, after the completion of all necessary studies and of the relevant business plan.
