Heraklion (also:
Iraklio) may be the fourth largest city in Greece, but its sports infrastructure regarding indoor halls is very poor. The only notable such building, the Lido Indoor Hall, is too small for the needs of the city. However, this situation is about to change as two new modern arenas will soon be ready. In particular, the TEI INDOOR HALL will be completed by January 2003, while the big project of the DYO AORAKIA ARENA is now under way and it will be constructed by the end of 2004. Click on any one of these two links to see a page with many photos, plans and information about each arena.

Finally, it should be noted that Iraklio Basketball Club (A1 Division) will move from Lido, first (and temporarily) to TEI and then to Dyo Aorakia.
