August 12th, 2001 Panathinaikos's demand for part of the park in Goudi, in order for them to build their new stadium, has raised many opposing voices this last month, especially from environmentalists. A few days ago the mayor of Athens came up with a new proposal. Mr. Dimitris Avramopoulos suggested the area of ELEONAS (about 2 km west of the city centre). Panathinaikos officials said that they need to examine the economic feasibility of a stadium at this new site, but their first reactions to the proposal were positive.
