Capacity: 4,340 (seated) |
Location: |
The stadium is located in Vyronas, an eastern district of Athens,
3 km from the city centre. It is rather difficult to get there by
car from central Athens. Follow signs to Vyronas through
Pangrati district (near the Hilton), driving along Formionos Street
that leads up to Vyronas. Once you will cross Archbishop Chrisostomos
Street that leads to Imittos Ring Road you must turn left and you'll
see the stadium after 200m. If you are not in central Athens, you
may use Imittos Ring Road, exiting at the traffic lights to Vyronas.
Drive on for about 1 km and you will get to the stadium.
|
Since all this is a little confusing, your best chance is bus
#204. It runs from Academias Street and stops right outside the stadium.
The more frequent #203 goes up Formionos; you'll have to get off near
the crossing with Archbishop Chrisostomos and walk to the stadium
(5 minutes).

More
data : Vyronas Municipal (formerly "National") Stadium
is located at the east edge of Athens, on the foothills of Mt Imittos.
It is actually located in an old quarry, which is why it is also known
as "Ta Damaria" (meaning "The Quarry"). It should
be noted that Kessariani
Stadium is only 500m away, on the other side of the steep hill
that rises over Vyronas Stadium.
|
As
you may see in the photos, the stadium has one main south stand, while
a much smaller one was later constructed at the north-west corner.
Apart from that, the stadium is bordered at all other sides by rock!
It should be finally noted that Vyronas Stadium had a capacity of
6,600 before becoming an all-seater in 2000.
The stadium is owned by the Municipality of Vyronas. |
