| Sporting Indoor Hall |
| Capacity: 1,862 |
| Location:
It is located in Patissia, a district north of the Athens city centre.
To get there by car, use Patission St (the road that
the Archaeological Museum is on). Drive north and 3 km after the museum
you will come to the traffic lights of Sarantaporou St. Turn left
into Sarantaporou, and you'll see the hall on your left. The easiest way to get there is the Metro. Use line 1 to "Aghios Eleftherios"; the indoor hall is just 50m away. Another option is to use trolley-bus #3 from central Athens. This will drop you off on Patission (the correct stop is "Sotiriadou") and you'll have to walk about 200m along Sarantaporou to reach Sporting Indoor Hall. |

| More
data: The hall was home of Panathinaikos B.C. from 2002 to 2004,
as the Olympic Sports Hall was
being upgraded for the Olympic Games. The tiny gym has been recently
renovated (air-conditioning was the latest addition), but it still
remains a true "fossil" of Greek basketball's distant past.
It is really a disgrace that such a big club as Panathinaikos had
to play there, even if it was just for a couple of seasons. Sporting's
only positive point is its cosiness. Fans can hear (and even take
part in) dirty talk between players! |
