Stadium fact sheet
The stadium is located in Peristeri, a western district of Athens. To get there by car, exit the city centre via Athinon Avenue. 1 km after passing over the motorway to Lamia, Athinon Avenue submerges under Thivon Street. Don't go down the tunnel, but turn right into Thivon. Go on for another 400m and at the traffic lights turn right again into Kennedy Street. After a couple of blocks you will come to Peristeri Arena. The stadium is at the other side of it.
You may also get there by public transport. Use Metro line 2 (red) to its Peristeri terminus of "Aghios Antonios" and then board bus #821. Get off just 4 stops after Aghios Antonios, at "Ghipedo" (it means football ground), right outside Peristeri Stadium.
Built in: 1970 (Latest redevelopment in 2005)
Record attendance: 13,099 (Atromitos FC vs Olympiacos CFP - on 11/1/1981)
Home of: Atromitos FC (Superleague)
More data: The stadium originally had two stands, while the south curve was built in the late 1970s (Peristeri Arena is behind it). Since that time, the only other works worth mentioning were the installation of the rubber athletics track in 2001 and of the floodlights in 2004. The state of the stadium was generally very poor, matching the form of its tenants, Atromitos FC, who lingered in lower divisions. You may see four photos that were shot in 2002: 1, 2, 3, 4.
However, the merger of top-flight Halkidona FC with Atromitos FC in the summer of 2005 meant the return of 1st Division football to Peristeri. The stadium was therefore upgraded, the most important of these works being the following:
- Replacement of the pitch.
- Installation of plastic seats on all stands and leather seats in the VIP section.
- Construction of a new north stand (capacity 1,300 - allocated to away fans).
- Upgrading of facilities below the stands (new dressing rooms, VIP lounge, service areas).
- Upgrading of facilities for the TV & press (new TV & press booths, new press room).
Some more works were completed within 2006:
- Improvement of safety characteristics at the entrances of the west stand.
- New electronically controled entrance gates.

The latest significant upgrade to Peristeri Stadium was the construction of a roof over the west stand in late 2009 (photos on this page were shot prior to that date so they do not show it).

The stadium is owned by the Municipality of Peristeri.
Many thanks to Ms Katia Koxenoglou, PR Officer of Atromitos FC, for all her valuable help
