Aris Basketball Club have been granted exclusive use of the upgraded ALEXANDRIO ARENA for the next 20 years, following a decision of the Sports Ministry. More specifically, Aris will be able to use both the main and the training courts, but also operate shops, a restaurant and a VIP lounge within the building. Works for the complete upgrading of the ageing arena were scheduled to commence in mid-2003, but didn't really begin until January this year. They are now expected to finish by October and transform Alexandrio into a modern indoor sports venue. However, according to Thessaloniki daily "Makedonia", these works will also result in a reduction of the arena's capacity by about 400 seats. |
