| The
new Kozani Arena is yet another example of building things "the
Greek way". Its construction began almost five years ago and
it still isn't finished! However, it now seems that the arena will
be completed within the summer of 2005. It will be a much welcomed
addition to the sports infrastructure of this city in northern Greece. |
| The
total cost of the new Kozani Arena has been estimated to be €
3,155,000. It is being constructed in an area called Lefkovrysi, south
of the city. The location lies by the road to Aeani, about 1.5 km
            after exiting Kozani. |
| The
capacity of this new arena will be about 3,500.
It will be able to host all indoor ball games (e.g. basketball, volleyball,
handball etc), as well as gymnastics. A second indoor hall is being
constructed next to the main arena. It will be used primarily for
            training purposes. |
| As
mentioned above, Kozani Arena is expected to be ready before the start
of the 2005-06 basketball season. If this happens, the A1 Division
team of Makedonikos B.C. will move into the arena, leaving the small
            Kozani Indoor Hall,
which they currently use as home. Please note that all photos on this page were shot in November 2004. |

thanks to Costas Tsioras for his kind offer of all photos that are
