Capacity: 6,500 (seated)
Location:
The stadium is in Kalamaria, a district of Thessaloniki (which has an international airport). Kalamaria lies south-east from the city centre, by the sea. The two main roads that lead there (both clearly signposted) are the coastal avenue and Vassilissis Olgas Street. Either way, you will end up on Metamorfoseos Street, in the centre of Kalamaria. Just keep going on, having the town hall and the church of Metamorfosis on your left. You will reach the stadium 500m after the church.

Alternatively, you may use a bus to get there. Board either #5 or #6 from Mitropoleos Street, by Aristotelous Square, in the centre of Thessaloniki. They both go to Kalamaria, each following a different route. The journey will take about 30 minutes. Get off at "Ghipedo" stop (which means football ground in Greek), right outside Kalamaria Stadium.
Built in: 1973 (Latest redevelopment in 2003)
Record attendance: 8,375 (Apollon Kalamarias FC vs Panathinaikos FC - on 7/10/1973)
Home of: Apollon Kalamarias FC (Football League)
More data: The Stadium of Apollon (as it is officially named) has only one stand, along the west side of the pitch. The stadium was one of the official training venues for the football tournament of the 2004 Olympic Games. For this reason it was upgraded and works included the installation of plastic seats on the stand, the total renovation of all facilities below the stand, the replacement of the football pitch and the rubber athletics track, the construction of a car park next to the stadium etc. Click on the following links to see three photos of the stadium before the latest works: 1, 2, 3.

Apollon Kalamarias FC announced in early 2006 that they aim to proceed to a complete reconstruction of the stadium. The plans released to the press involve a football ground which will hold about 15,000 spectators, without an athletics track around the pitch. There will be three covered stands, while the fourth side of the stadium will be occupied by an indoor hall (capacity: 2,000). A shopping centre will also be constructed. It will include multiplex cinemas and underground parking spaces. The cost is estimated at € 40-45 million. Any news on this project will be posted on our website's relevant section.

The stadium is owned by MGS Apollon Kalamarias amateur club.
